Restart Xprotect agents

Restart Xprotect agents when you see that the upgrade or uninstall is unsuccessful even when the hosts are reachable to the instance or when you see that agent operations are halted. 


Restart agents

When you restart the agent on a host, the agent services and processes stop and start again. The agent caches up to 500 events/alerts generated during the restart. The agent sends the telemetry data that is cached during the restart when it sends the next heartbeat to the Xprotect instance.

  1. Go to Hosts on the Xprotect UI.

  2. Select One or more hosts and click More > Restart Agent (in the floating panel on the top).

  3. Click Yes.

    You will see a confirmation when the agent is restarted on the hosts. The hosts are not reachable to the instance during the restart.


Verify - agent restarted successfully

  • Go to Hosts and click the down arrow for the host. You will see the time when the agent restarted, next to the Agent Last Started label.
